With "lust" being the chosen sin for this book, I was expecting an angsty and sexy story, but when it started off with Ryder's past in a heartbreaking Prologue, I knew that Jennifer Miller has once again, given us SO MUCH MORE. This book has ALL THE FEELS: funny, heartbreaking, sexy, and a surprising twist that I didn't see coming.
Tessa is a complex character. While the reader knows that she is broken by her past, she is also strong behind her mask. She's sassy and funny and smart and completely resistant to Ryder's charms...at first.
Ryder is one of the most swoon-worthy heroes....EVER! He is also broken from his past, but he feels an undeniable pull to Tessa and is relentless in his pursuit of her to explore their chemistry together.
"I'm going to show you what it means to have someone give to you, and not just take from you."
While their past traumas are very different, Ryder and Tessa have more in common than either thought possible from their very first encounter.
"Searching her eyes, I see exactly what I expected-lust, want, need, and definitely permission. what I don't expect, is to see something I'm all too familiar with. It's a deep sadness. The want and need to connect. The desire to feel something - hell- anything. It's the hope that for just a few moments, someone can help you escape whatever it is you're running from. While both characters have spent years masking their past pain, they will both have to face their past and learn how to put it behind them to get their HEA. Ms. Miller has written a story here that shows us that fate can bring 2 lost souls together with perhaps the single-minded purpose of healing each other.

The moments in this book when they recognize want, need, and something of themselves in the other are poignant and healing. These are the moments that the characters are building an unbreakable bond and laying the foundation for the ultimate love story.

"Something to hold onto, something to hold onto me. I need to lose myself in....in connection. I want to be seen, heard, felt, and wanted."
The characters are well-developed and the story was beautifully written. I found myself highlighting numerous memorable quotes throughout the book (as you can see in my review). The story is perfectly paced as details of their pasts unfold and the development of their relationship blossoms throughout the book. As much as I thought this author couldn't top the first 2 books in this series, Ryder & Tessa are unforgettable characters and their story will be a forever favorite of mine.

Miller brings us another installation of the Deadly Sins series and this one was a hard hit for me. The anguish both feel use different ways to cope struck the similarity cord that made me NEED to finish this. The characters are strong and match perfectly you can feel their connection even without the intimacy until later.
Great storyline, excellent characters,and supporting characters. Definitely a favorite and it just gets better and better with each new installment of the series.
This is in my opinion Jennifer Miller's best work yet. The Deadly Sins books have all been great but this one.....she outdid herself.
Ryder the self proclaimed playboy meets his equal in Tessa, the beautiful nurse who buries her pain with sex.
As usual, these characters are totally relatable. This story deals with some pretty heavy topics but Ms. Miller infuses humor right where its needed.
This book will definitely go into my re-read pile!!
Ok so I read bad reviews before I start a book and I read one that pretty much slut shamed both characters, so I had to read this. Let me tell you, that reviewer is sad and judgemental to say a whore is a whore and their issues don't matter. This book made me cry and laugh. It broke me down and built me up. This was a raw, emotional read. I loved it and I can't wait for Cade's book.
This was such an emotional book, it will make you laugh, cry, and will definitely touch your heart, some twists, that will surprise you, and hurt your heart. It was hard to stop the tears.
When Ryder meets Tessa little does he realize that he has met his match, and they are about to change each others life's forever. Ryder and Tessa are so much alike, he is a playboy he doesn't want any kind of relationship, so he pretty much just takes what he wants from women, and Tessa uses men as a way to cope with her demons. Two people with a lot of pain in their hearts just dealing with life, the hardest thing for both of them will be letting love into their hearts and letting go of the pain, and forgetting the past. This is a must read book, it will really touch your heart. Jennifer Miller never disappoints all her books are Amazing.
I usually try to stick to humorous reads but this series caught my attention on the first book. So I thought I would read this one and get it over with and wait for the story I really wanted, Cole. Boy was I wrong. Of course this story caught me from the first paragraph. Ryder and Tessa each have their own daemons they're running from. They each have their own way of running. What really made this book for me is how they didn't throw the past in each other's face. They are moving forward together. Also we get to see how your family isn't always blood. Sometimes it's those that choose to stick with you through thick and thin. Great Read and can't wait for Cole.
My first Jennifer Miller book was Charming A Modern Day Sexy Cinderella Story it was light hearted, fun, but with twist that make a great love story. I was not prepared for the intensity that was Fighting Lust! Holy Moly was this an amazing story line, I did not see the plot twist happening! Ryder was one of the cockiest book boyfriends I've ever read, he is damn sure of himself and it wasn't a turn off at all. Now Tessa, well Tessa has more issues than Julie Michaels. Talk about a having a past and when Tessa and Ryder get together you have a sexy, drama filled fabulous listen!
I was new to listening to the narrators Angela Moore and George Wickham but they both have great voices and did an excellent job bringing the story to life and making you feel the emotion of the characters. I highly recommend you give Fighting Lust a read or listen! 5 out of 5 roses!
